#014 (S-SSS Grades) 10 + 2 Crystal Red Shrimp (size: 1/4 inch to 1 inch) (Unsexed)
#014 (S-SSS Grades) 10 + 2 Crystal Red Shrimp (size: 1/4 inch to 1 inch) (Unsexed)
When purchased, you will receive 10 PRL Crystal Red Shrimps with the size of 1/4 to 1 inch each and at least 2 extra adult the size of 1/2 to 1 inch. All Crystal Red Shrimps will be selected at random (unsexed) besides 2 adults which will also be selected at random (unsexed). Total of 12 Shrimps.
What does PRL CRS Mean?
CRS stands for Crystal Red Shrimp, a type of Caridina. PRL stands for Pure Red Line meaning these shrimps have been selectively bred to keep their “Red” Heritage with other “Red” Heritage shrimps. These shrimp have not been cross bred with other species of shrimp, thus causing them to have thick paint-like white shells and spider legs with shades/spots of solid red colors. The highest grades (SSS) are graded based on the ratio of White to Red, where White is significantly more dominant and desirable in pigmentation than Red.
Special Note:
Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina) and Crystal Red Shrimp (Caridina) are two different species of shrimp that CAN NOT breed with each other.
PRL CRS have a slightly higher difficulty compared to cherry shrimps due to requiring remineralized RO water and a slightly lower PH of 6.5-7.0 (They can survive above 7.0 but is not recommended as it stresses them out.)
I personally use remineralized RO tap water and add a 6.5 buffer after the tank has been cycled for 1 month. Be sure to mix products OUTSIDE of the aquarium. (Mixing products in an aquarium with live fish and shrimp CAN KILL them!)
There are different methods for those that have a planted aquarium with lights due to some buffers don’t work well with plants, please check out a tutorial online or do some research for further instructions. (I do not have planted tanks)
Disclaimer:
These are FRESH WATER ONLY!
DO NOT introduce into SALT WATER!
We recommend that you have a separate tank for your Crystal Red shrimps due to the fact that their small size is easy to pray on or attack for many fish and other aquarium pets.
We are NOT responsible for the death of Crystal Red shrimps due to other fish and other aquarium pets and animals or improper water parameters/conditions.
We recommend that your tank is cycled for at least 1 month before the purchase of Crystal Red shrimps for the best success rates. I highly recommend doing research and/or watch videos on Crystal Red shrimps to get a general idea for care.
