Privacy Policy

Due to its very nature as a community-drive website, Shrimpery utilizes information you provide to us to improve our services. When you share information with us, for example, by creating an account or by posting in our forums, we can use that information to make our website better.

1. Information We Collect

Generally, personal information is not collected or required to use our website. However, in order to access certain content, personal information may be required, as outlined below.

a. Website Registration

Shrimpery requires a valid email address for users who wish to register. This allows us to protect our community from abusive postings and provide a verifiable point of contact should legal questions arise.

In the registration, you have the option of providing additional information, such as occupation, interests, homepage, and other contact information. This is intended to foster a sense of community. If you have any concerns regarding this information, you may leave the fields blank and your registration will still be processed.

After registration, your personal community profile will publicly display your username, avatar, and by default--recent activities, such as forum postings on our website. You can set what to display, or make your profiles private under Community->Profile->Privacy.

b. Cookies

Certain activities on our website involve the use of cookies to facilitate your experience. This includes the ability to automatically log you into the forum, to show the new topics since your last visit, a. You have the ability to turn these cookies off at any time via your browser.

c. Facebook Integration

Our Facebook login feature is a convenient alternative to standard website registration. By default, we only import your Facebook avatar, if you wish to use a separate avatar, you can deselect the checkbox and upload an avatar of your choice at a later time.

Under the default settings, our Facebook integration does not automatically post anything to your Facebook wall (because we hate Facebook-app spam), if you wish to change this you can do so under Edit Profile -> Account Details, and selecting to allow the site to publish updates to your Facebook account.
